Is anybody else really fucking pissed off that Ubuntu 25.10 with the default Gnome desktop has dropped Xorg support completely, and forces you to use Wayland? Synergy is completely busted with Wayland. This simply won't do. 😾 Guess it's time to install XFCE or LXDE. Dang. Absolute bullshittery.

I've also made a public Live Station on Huxe for all things Linux--Tux Live! πŸ§πŸŽ™οΈπŸ§ Check it out if you're interested in a realtime(!) Today was one of the most fulfilling days for me in a long time. I got to do one of my absolute favorite things and that was to do a technical deep dive into software. Today it was Apache Superset! ♾️

Sometimes I try to hack things just to see what happens. πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» I just tried to run MAST on top of my iPhone’s iSH application. πŸ“± I got it to install and run which was cool but it didn’t work completely lol. πŸ˜… It wasn’t designed for it so no big deal but still fun to try. 😁

Apache Kafka Review πŸ“ Kafka seems to excel at delivering high-throughput, fault-tolerant, and real-time data processing. 🌐 It uses a publish and subscribe model, contains a log-based storage system, and uses brokers instead of queues. πŸ”— It is ideal for use cases such as real-time analytics, log aggregation, processing large volumes of time-sensitive data, and finally Internet of things (IoT) messaging. πŸ“‘ My final takes on Kafka are that it is interesting that it needs Apache Zookeeper in order to run completely, it is a really complex but robust solution that can solve a lot of horizontal scaling problems, and I’m a big fan of it’s ability to integrate with other software components. 😎

Learning about software is one of the best, and most fulfilling, parts of my job. 😁 Today I get to do some research into Apache Kafka, which is an event streaming platform. πŸͺΆ I am already familiar with RabbitMQ, which I have heard from others that is similar, but might serve some different use cases. πŸ‡ I will let you guys know what I find! πŸ”

I was kinda waiting for this to happen... 😹 πŸ™ˆ Letting LLMs run amok with root is probably not a great idea, but an interesting read nonetheless!

Considering putting in a devcon talk proposal about free software alternatives to common non-free software. Are there other widely-used non-free things apart from warpcast and metamask or would I basically be bitching about those two for 20 mins?

I really like the name "FOSS" because "open source" describes what it is but not why it matters
