I just attended my first live webinar in months and it was hard. I consume most of this type of content on demand and I tend to play it at 1.5 to 2x. Even though I was extremely interested in the subject matter, it was really hard to pay attention. I did all my usual hacks. I took notes by hand. I made purposeful doodles to connect concepts. My focus was still terrible. I was frustrated with myself and then I realized that I just do better when I can control the speed and pause and go back when I need to and there is nothing wrong with that, especially when it’s one way interaction (like a webinar). I’m trying to recognize these patterns and not beat myself up because my brain doesn’t like things. I have to remind myself that I’m lucky to live in a time where I can consume information at my own pace and stop trying to fit into a neurotypical mold. It’s okay to learn and think differently.

Everyone else here has probably read this already, but if you know anyone just discovering their ADHD, for me, this book is a really great explainer and provides some good suggestions for managing life with ADHD.

I'd rather go to the office early (1 hr before my shift) than sit down at home thinking about my work for the day.

My toxic trait is thinking ai chat bots can understand my adhd communication style the same way my adhd human friends can follow what I’m saying and just know what I mean without me directly saying what I mean

Spent my whole life trying to fit into the 'normal' world, only to realize I just needed to find the right Farcaster channel. Finally a place where being abnormal is the norm.

my executive dysfunction HATES dealing with bank related stuff like resetting passwords and/or card pins, adding payees, waiting for a payee to activate before i can send a txn, etc.

been thinking about why i have such distaste for mental health labels and i've boiled it down to this: a) limiting beliefs b) pathologising the human condition take two sentences that consider the same trait — 'i have adhd' and 'my attention works differently' one places you inside the problem, whilst the other places the problem inside a condition you possess and can't change the paralympian doesn't ask whether they can they ask: given this, what can i?
