I think the first thing that has to go is this shortlist of influential people that are dominating the Farcaster feed since I joined in January 2024. Let's call them the OGs.

The OGs that were on the autofollow list and gained 1000s of followers in early 2024 by design are now deciding who ranks high on the rewards leaderboard.

You can easily spot OGs in the trending feed, they are there every single day. Their casts are trending even without any engagement.

These OGs also decide when your casts are trending and pushed by the algo by engaging with your cast.

This is one big reason why im using Farcaster less and less..

I’ve also been enjoying life off chain for a bit, i will forever be grateful for this place and i will never leave it

But the amount of “cult among the OGs” is ridiculous.. 

I was able to grow a lot on this platform and be influencial, even more than the OGs.. if we look at the numbers i was getting 10 times more interactions then people with 200k followers😂

And i think they didnt like that newcomers like me were able to steal their spotlight, simply with charisma, funny memes and art..

So they’ve built this system that @mvr is taking about, which it’s so obvious even blind people can see.

And dont even get me started on how they never truly accepted that $DEGEN is what made Farcaster what it is today.. 

Never cooperated with @jacek , never admited that $DEGEN is the actual native token of Farcaster..

They did work with Moxie tho, funny eh?

If i were the creator of farcaster or an OG with grrat influence, i would constantly share what my community builts

it can be a bit frustrating to see great app and builders  ( i will take mine out because i am biased ) like @mintclub comes to mind with clapp and huntclub ( many more but he ts the one i think of right now ) not getting as much credit as he deserves.

Personally i started to build with making nexart only on farcaster , but i am getting better response form twitter and we all know how difficult that can be than form the niche farcaster app . 

I appreciate that maybe i over value my app but there is some really less elegant , less useful app ( to stay polite 😂 ) having a much better visibility just because ...

replied to @trebor69 in another thread, but also chiming in here because i think it's an important conversation and want to understand your argument better.

imo, farcaster is a small network with limited attention and liquidity to go around. it absolutely can be cliquey, but I've never seen any kind of conspiracy to prevent great apps from getting lots of attention. Noice, for example, seemed to have a great launch out of nowhere because they were clever with it.

I also see people like Linda, who is as OG as it gets, highlighting apps and games every day. She's never done so with mine, but I've seen it with plenty of others.

 So I'm curious where this frustration comes from. It hasn't been my experience.

re: noice vs tippn - I'm not sure what makes noice better than tippn. I just know that noice has slick videos and a clever name (and that their founder has been very responsive to my DCs), and that tippn has staking for usdc rewards. Farcaster is about as easy as it gets in terms of "if you build it they will come", but at the end of the day, the ability to generate attention is a skill that any team has to get good at, regardless of where they're building, right?

re: it's who you know - I think this is true anyway and agree that it's more pronounced in a smaller network. At the same time, I've personally felt that many in the "OG crowd" are receptive to newcomers and significantly more receptive to thoughtful replies and DCs than those holding similar positions of influence on twitter.

You and I joined around the same time so neither of us are close to being OGs, but I've found tons of support from early FIDs just by reaching out (though neither dwr nor v follow me or interact with much I do)

So could the network do a better job at surfacing great apps? Of course

But I don't see this as an indictment so much as a target to continue working towards.

And I appreciate I used the word frustrating in the previous cast but I could have used disappointing too 
And you do refer to noice which is a great app, but what’s makes it so much better than tippn for example ?

Personally i m not frustrated! I think the whole: it’s not what you build / create , it’s who you know which is really well known in crypto is the same over here … but because you have a lot less people here , then unless you are part of those people it gets more difficult, if you do know those people it gets a lot easier compared to X for example 
I personally know that I am not part of those circle and that is fine by me , won’t stop me sleeping at night , but without giving more support to newer people / builders /creator, farcaster will have issue to grow the way it wants and deserves
