There is a huge void to fill here and on Zora with subtitles and captioning in a way that could really make either app stand out as the global leader of social communication if they were to nail down a solution.

I don't believe captioning and subtitling services should be behind a paywall for creators.  

In a world where we pay for everything, even for comments like this to each other - we should still work towards categorizing some services and apps in the 'domain of humanity' and find a way to provide them free, or highly subsidized, like GPS.  Decentralization can not also mean isolating humanitarian services behind a paywall.  

This could be the defining feature for this app if they pull off built-in captioning/subtitling services with multi language support, like you were referencing. 

The race to define a decentralized global video communication standard is well underway!

Japanese-English bilingual subs are a huge pain tbh. The transcription is great but the reverse word order means that I have to merge the automated subs and re-translate everything myself. 

It also means I have to listen to every piece of awkward intonation or annunciation five or six times as I fix the subtitles....torture for the foreign language learner.

Nonetheless, this is probably the way to go (h/t @ted for the idea)
