France announced they will send military to help Denmark to defend Greenland from US attack, if the need arises. I'll take "things I never imagined to hear in my lifetime" for 500, Alex.

Thought the Denmark stuff was hilarious when I first heard it Now that he's actually gone and opened a trade war with his allies and increased consumer taxes by 25% as a result, it's suddenly less funny to hear Greenland threats

From what I was reading, the greater % of Greenland's pop. is of Native origin or native and a smoller % is Danish/European decent, with them having the ability to apparently decide on independence for awhile now, but having a certain reliance/dependance on Denmark rn so... with the untapped resources they have waiting to be developed, I could see a push for a strong US buy-out package lol US bought the Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917 for $25M Wild times. Meanwhile in my home province of British Columbia, the Premier has responded by the telling the liquor stores not to buy/import liquor from Red/Republican States π«‘

Thatβs genuinely v interesting - outside of the morbidity of the current threats, seeing a modern day purchase of a nation state (preferably with a democratic vote on the purchasee side) would make for some wildly historical times. But man I bet theyβd have a lot of oil rigs up faster than you can blink.
