what is tyler perry's obsession w depicting black women going through the absolute worst? granted i've only seen two movies; 'straw' and 'a fall from grace' so me calling it an obsession is probably not a fair characterization but both movies made me feel off. anyone else feel this way?

I’ve never seen a Tyler Perry movie, but isn’t it true of every movie that the main character is going through the worst period of their life?

yes fair point. lot of movies have that. but it seemed like a pattern in his movies to show them absolutely helpless and miserable and i think it was just the way he went about portraying that, that stuck out to me. idk how to articulate it but it seemed off to me 😅
