what is tyler perry's obsession w depicting black women going through the absolute worst? granted i've only seen two movies; 'straw' and 'a fall from grace' so me calling it an obsession is probably not a fair characterization but both movies made me feel off. anyone else feel this way?

It's a fair characterization tbh, and I also wonder the same though it shows what we go through so most he is writing from what he has seen from the black women around him. Reality for black women is ugly

still mostly analog. patterns, builder, entrepreneur, analyzing your transactions since 2016

youre probably right but id also argue the quality and creativity of films is really poor right now. very little creative risk taking. not saying no good films come out, they do, just generally the cost to make a new film has taken a creative hit against inde.

haven't seen a few out of the list you mentioned but yes you have a point. i think they were a bit of a trend(?), if you can call it that, a while back. don't see much of that anymore. probably because cross dressing was supposed to be this comedy sub genre which probably in some way tied into transphobia etc

I havent seen the movies you mentioned but I sense what youre talking about. I am not sure, its not my type of film but given the popularity they do speak to people. 

this had me thinking about how popular it is as a genre for men to cross dress in film, some even family friendly

I’ve never seen a Tyler Perry movie, but isn’t it true of every movie that the main character is going through the worst period of their life?
