My personal takes from the AMA: The 5 USDC reward for the top 100 casters isn’t really about the prize, it’s about the spirit of competition. Since all Farcaster data is open and there are dashboards in Airstack and Dune, this fair competition will continue to attract new participants. The two main niches on Farcaster are meaningful text-based discussions and memes on any topic. It’s worth finding a cozy corner in these niches and focusing on quality content. Games, mini-apps, and videos probably won’t become a niche on Farcaster. Plus, developing them would require significant team resources with unclear prospects.

Where does art fit into this? I don’t understand how no art casts end up in the top 100.

I’m involved in the music art, so I know how different people's tastes can be. You can probably find a cozy spot for your art on Farcaster. But when it comes to reaching the masses (top100), the art needs to be something universal, like memes about common human experiences. Take popular poetry from the 18th and 19th centuries, for example. They celebrated everyday things like love and relationships. Now, memes have taken their place. Maybe it’s worth expressing art through memes, just like it used to be done with poetry?

I create for myself so won’t be switching to meme art anytime soon but I appreciate your response. I hadn’t thought of it that way.

I would add: memes are successful /because of/ their ability to replicate. It's an idea gene, after all. The best memes have /reach/ by definition. They need not be good quality by artistic standards and will outcompete "art" for the simple reason that art needs to also be "good," not just wildly replicated among people.

Coming up with a viral meme is pretty much on par with creating art or an art piece, but it’s a thankless task and by default, not something you can really monetize. Do you even remember the names of any famous meme creators?
