fwiw we have chronic rat problems in baltimore and just, kinda, avoid stuff that can become rat nests.

actually that’s a lie. I only learned to do rat prevention stuff /after/ I had to exhume two gigantic compost bins… and all the rat nests therein.

it's my own damn fault for not breaking it down entirely and storing it in a shed for the winter but we've never had rat problems so I thought a simple waterproof cover over the wicker + taking the cushions off would be sufficient for the winter

worked last winter but apparently this winter rats were more prevalent
