Does anyone know how media content syndication works? What's the business model? For example, let's say you're a comic writer: do you deal directly with media outlets, or contract with a syndicating intemediary? Is it similar to book publishing, in that you can get an advance?

Usually it happens with third-party publishers through licensing fees, distribution agreements, ad revenue, sponsorship deals etc.

Are there standard or typical playbooks? If someone were just starting out how would they think through all of this without expensive lawyers and advisors

I would say no, the info is pretty gatekept and heavy on networking. There are databases of publishers, but a lot of times they’re outdated. Not ideal for someone just starting out and I would love to see this aspect democratized.

Interesting! I would love to find out. The only web3 brand I’m aware of working in this realm is Dequency. Tagging in @melknee who has worked in publishing and may have some good leads! https://dequency.io
