Olivia smiled, thanking him, but something lingered in the air between them. He hesitated at the door, and before she knew it, they were exchanging small talk, talking about the endless roads, the long stretches of quiet. After a while she invited him to sit.
As the conversation flowed, Olivia felt the tension from the day easing, replaced by a different kind of energy.
Liam stood after a while, about to leave, but paused, catching her gaze. "It’s been a long day," he said softly, stepping closer, his eyes locked on hers.
"Yeah," she whispered, her heart picking up speed.
His hand found her cheek, his touch warm and gentle. He leaned in, and before she could think twice, their lips met, slow and tentative at first, then more certain. The exhaustion of the day melted away, replaced by the heat of the moment.
The night stretched on, and as they lay together, Olivia realized this unexpected moment was exactly what she needed. Just a break from reality, a brief escape from the road and the miles behind her. 0 reply
