I was fortunate enough to be in Ozzy’s presence just once, on a hot summer in 1999 at Ozzfest. - Ozzy performed as part of a reunited Black Sabbath which was a treat in and of itself - Diabolus in Musica era Slayer - Around the Fur era Deftones - Hellbilly Deluxe era Rob Zombie - Obsolete era Fear Factory - Slipknot, System of a Down, and Static-X all supporting their respective debut albums - Antipop era Primus (with bonus Buckethead) an *extremely* formative musical day for then 16 year old me and what a perfect snapshot on time. many of these bands went on to headline arenas. thank you Ozzy not just for your legacy but for putting on the next generation

Hot damn! I got to see Sabbath sans-Bill Ward about 7-8 years ago. My assumption is that’s what going to an S-tier church feels like. Wish I’d got to see him at some point with Bill Ward.

Ozzfest 99 was probably the best lineup of raw bands just being themselves. Everything after had its moments but never captured that feeling.
