1: earlier this weekend (Friday) I was grateful for Coinbase for being the gateway to my bank and my crypto world. the APR on $USDC is better than any of my savings accounts. I thought the Shopify integration forthcoming was cool and good. The credit card seems cool but I’m 25k in debt on my current one so Not For Me

2: then came Saturday. You’ve all seen the picture and heard the phrase “thank you to our sponsor, Coinbase.” I won’t tell you what it’s about it’s a google search away. 

It gave me such the Ick that I immediately drained my warplet and listed my Farcaster Pro NFT just above floor (hasn’t sold yet).

5: I do however still enjoy ripping out $thankyou so I stacked that in @noiceapp and set A Very Tricil Phrase (IYKYK) as my “ok banger.”

I may be put off but I’m not fucking leaving.

4: side note and salt in the wound found out one of my friends on here was a fake catfish which blew my mind but after a weekend like the prior it seemed par for the fucking course

3: this means yes I sold airdrops and will be disqualified from future airdrops. I just don’t care. I don’t want to be a part of the conversation. 

Ironically I offramped thru Coinbase as it’s the only KYC exchange we have straight to the bank from the chain.

and fwiw “Farcaster is just an offshoot of Coinbase” *is* reductive for what this place *actually* is: a great network with good people and a ton of potential.

I mean sponsoring that bullshit was gross but Coinbase isn’t Farcaster even if they are tied together and we need more left wing people here. If we stop using products with ties to the Trump administration we will be stuck in a BlueSky bubble.

But I don’t think current Farcaster team has any influence over Coinbase government marketing team spend.

Farcaster is basically Coinbase offshoot

- started by ex-Coinbase employees
- Base is the default network here
- Coinbase Wallet 2.0 is Basically Just Farcaster
- FarCon full of Base employees and activations
- would not be surprised if there was a forthcoming acquisition of Farcaster by Coinbase (or perhaps one fell through)

It was a revolting own goal on every level.
