One of my toxic traits is downplaying compliments.

But hearing someone compliment my kids is a high that i could ride for a looooooong time. 

Of course I know my kids are great (they really are). And my joy is multiplied when others are blessed by them *and* when the kids are growing into who they're made to be. It all comes together beautifully and we can't take it for granted.

Incidentally, this is in contrast with some friends whose kids aren't making great choices. It's also in contrast with a lot of the decisions I made as a kid. 

Given that and the state of *waves hands* I'm humbled & grateful for these times.

Glad to hear you’ve gotten some of that joy as well! We can’t always predict how our past shapes us and our future, so I’m always thankful for these bright spots.

ours have recently been given some wonderful external praise & its so strange as someone that's always downplaying any praise b/c catholic something something its 'bad' to be 'good'

but DAMN has all that guilt helped me raise some highly lovely, well adjusted kids 🤞🏻
