I would like to understand the psychology behind people always responding to Casting, but never responding to direct Casting

I feel like Casting is low value communication that I don’t need to address always, but direct Casting is high level of communication that requires my attention.

Is it cause when we check notification we see part of the message and want to respond based on what we see but with Direct Casts we just see a number representing how many missed messages? Which only adds to our anxiety?

A lot of valuable messages end up in my requests and I end up not seeing them! this was a good reminder to check. I had 16 messages and ~5 were people trying to genuinely connect and I felt so bad I missed them! The others were spammy.

This sounds like the general psychology that makes sense.

Once you train yourself to wait for the right time to respond to DM’s you get in the habit of never responding to them.

It’s like that with text messaging for me.

I try to hit casts as I see them or I'll never see them again 

Dms I intentionally try not to open till I can get back to it otherwise I might end up leaving someone on read 👻
