unfortunately, many bridges charge fees, to cover cross-chain security and liquidity costs.

It might be unfair to focus on the example in your cast but circle's CCTP bridge is zero cost and has fast mode with single-digit cent fees. I'd only want to pay a fee on this if the wallet abstracts away a swap on the other chain, but I bet we're not far from doing this
