If someone had a few days to go from 0-100 on Obsidian, how should they go about it? Assume familiarity with Asana/Notion/Jira/etc. but they've never used Obsidian. Main use cases are project management/tracking, CRM, knowledge base, etc. All pretty "canonical", nothing crazy.

Don't overthink it. Just start writing and creating [[Links]] between ideas, people, places, books, etc. Obsidian is extremely flexible. Make it conform to your way of thinking, don't feel the need conform to someone else's method. With that caveat here's the way I use it: https://stephango.com/vault

i wouldn’t over engineer it. treat it like you’re using notepad or a simple markdown text editor and go from there :) i do think it excels more as a personal note taking app vs something more feature rich like notion i use both

A key choice in organizing your vault is choosing when tags or folders are best. If you have several "people" records in your CRM, you can either make a folder called People and tag them to different customer companies, or make a folder for each customer and tag the file as a #person. Both are fine, you pick for you!

i started using it as a simple notepad. over time you can slowly integrate its many features. also downloading the minimal theme by @kepano was helpful in creating an interface that didn’t immediately overwhelm me. https://minimal.guide/home

I found the tutorials for basic note-taking and UI exploration more challenging and user dependent than most other apps. I had to click around for about an hour before it started to make some sense. That and cmd+N of course.
