Every day I feel like we're speedrunning Warpcast's algofeed.

Challenge: some of y'all reply to high ranking casts ~200 times a day. This hurts feed mix.

Solution: we're going to build a reputation system with an out-of-network reply penalty.

Replying repeatedly to someone out-of-network will drop your rank significantly.

We evaluate what is out-of-network by looking at the relationship to you and the other account over a historic timeframe.

This should feel intuitive to most people.

Would it then reinforce the creation of silos or is that the expected and desirable outcome.

Make sense. Just curious does following each other affect the definition of out of network, for eg A and B follow each other but don’t reply or engage with each other. Are they considered out of network purely based on engagement patterns?

The penalty is too small to effect normal out-of-network discovery for others but is additive until your casts become virtually unranked.

If you become in-network (replying to someone, they reply back or engage), then the penalty goes away.
