I just finished A New Earth, and I thought it was pretty incredible. It’s basically a manual for navigating life through the awakened perspective. So it did feel somewhat repetitive, and left me craving revelatory practices/tools. But this stood out to me…

Acceptance. Enjoyment. Enthusiasm. Being in any one of these states allows for Consciousness to flow into what you do. Therefore, it is not what you do, but rather how you do it that matters most. 

Tomorrow, I’m gonna try using my guitar as the meditative practice, and record what seeps through

visualisation can be a great practice for intrinsic motivation! imagining the end goal is extremely effective!

yes, framing it as "i get to do that" vs "i have to do that". so long as one of the 3 states are present, it allows flow. even having a self-inquiry:

what would make this more enjoyable, accepting, enthusiastic?

gratitude goes a long way

but yes, I believe so. I think it's difficult to find flow if we're not intrinsically motivated, which derives in some way from enjoyment

even if you find flow doing work, odds are, what enabled you to find flow was a framing of the situation that allowed you to enjoy the experience
