You can be a serf on X, work every day for 6 months, and then be granted the opportunity to make money from someone else. Just make sure you keep following the rules so you don’t get kicked out. Or come to Farcaster or TBA, own your identity and make money on day 1

my more charitable take is that Nikita is encouraging people to hone and share their craft, which will unlock more financial freedom and independence than creator rewards can and i agree with that stance that doesn’t mean earning $$ day one from posting content isn’t net positive, but don’t think we should knock Nikita down for this advice (esp bc it’s advice that’s true across any social platform, incl Farcaster at scale)

Oh his advice is BS for Twitter — there isn’t a niche on Twitter that hasn’t already been staked out. Not gonna happen. You have to have millions of followers for a shot at this. However — take that same advice and do it here, start earning immediately and build a following you can take to other platforms. It also can work on TikTok or YouTube. It’s incredibly challenging to do this on Twitter and disingenuous to suggest it imo. Way too much noise over there.

anecdotally, it isn't BS for Twitter; know several now-friends who were able to amass decent followings in niche topics (biology, AI, BCI, energy, fashion, certain sports / fan accounts) in under 18 months. might be true for crypto or what you're building, but not true across the board. you can't build a following here around some of those topics and it is disingenuous to suggest it. there's just not a sufficient amount of people interested in those topics here.

cool — but he said 6 months and makes it sound easy. 18 months sounds more realistic and even then, not easy. It RARELY happens and happens much quicker on almost all other platforms. Even Substack is a better option at this point for most. TikTok has insane growth. Twitter is good for distribution on many topics but making it sound like it’s easy to monetize on there is so disingenuous by Nikita. If you’re not getting millions of impressions on Twitter, you’re not earning. It’s right in the T&S. And payments are limited. We’ve seen this over & over. And if you’re looking for brand deals, other platforms are way quicker for that.
