How much of American success over the last 70-80 years has less to do with American culture, principles, and ingenuity and more to do with it winning WWII with the least decimation and then being able to set the rules of the global order?

and a wealth of natural resources doesn’t hurt. Though after listening to the odd lots on euro dollar this week; reckon that role can’t be over stated.

They also won WWI, and Wilson de facto set up the rules for the world with his Fourteen Points. One of the points btw was that Poland should become independent again and that's why one of the nicer squares in Warsaw is called Wilson's square.

We'll never know, but inventing the internet was a huge help. Also, it seems like geography > technology might be implicit in winning WWII. Culture, ingenuity, etc. also might be a part of inventing nuclear weaponry etc. At the end of the day, it's impossible to separate complexity like this. But I do think there has been something special in the water at different points.

I think America was on solid footing and of equal stature prior to WWII, but not having to rebuild all our cities probably helped solidify dollar supremacy. We now seem to think as a nation the dollars status is impervious erosion. I’m sure Rome felt the same about the denarius.

American success has been influenced by both cultural ingenuity and post-WWII global power dynamics
