Why do all the successful socialists come from NYC? Mamdani, AOC, Bernie

Two over educated left leaning regions in US:
1. NYC
2. Parts of California 

In California it’s easier to live a happy life vibing.

In NYC you can’t really do that without lots of money.

Kind of a variant of the PG “different cities make you want different things”

I feel like @rubinovitz is probably the closest to right. It’s surprising the California doesn’t have prominent socialists.

The inequality gap continues to worsen across major cities in the US. NYC just manages to mobilise over others to tackle the problem. Let’s see if any of them are ever successful in addressing our needs.

I think in general the huge amount of wealth inequality probally contributes heavily, 1% of new york citizens makes about 44% of income according to statistics i could find.

But in a broader sense im really not sure why these canidates actually succeed here, over other cities of similar demographics and wealth distribution.

But also according to their bios 

Bernie was "radicalized" when he went to college for school after dropping out of college in new york 

AoC was "radicalized"while at Boston college due to her father's death

And zohran was radicalized by his parents, they both were left aligned politically
