For publishing with a publishing house: there’s the edit cycles followed by review cycles, followed by press cycles et al. Printing, press tour, scheduling talks/events/full travel plan (book clubs, podcasts, audiences, media) review side: first copy/gallows are sent months earlier and getting earlier reviews to add to the book (you’ll see it at those quotes at the back of each book ) when it’s published. there’s also reviews for the booktok/bookstagram side then the actual printing cycle, international is more logistics to add on

and not to forget, big publishing houses have multiple clients, authors, launches. it’s not just one person they got multiple priorities

for folks who self-publish its v different though, but depends on who is actually doing the printing as well. but yes those are the breakdowns often
