Guardiola: This has been the hardest season of my career Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has called the 2024/25 season the hardest of his 16-year career. After exiting the Champions League knockout playoffs and falling behind in the Premier League race, Guardiola reflected on a difficult campaign. “It’s been the most difficult, that’s for sure,” said the 54-year-old. “I didn’t find the way to make us feel comfortable and win games.” Key injuries, including to Rodri, and a lack of consistent energy were cited by the coach. Despite this, Guardiola is hopeful of ending the season with a top-five finish and silverware in the FA Cup and Club World Cup.

Barcelona sign Spain playmaker Olmo from RB Leipzig Barcelona have signed Spain playmaker Dani Olmo from German side RB Leipzig. The 26-year-old returns to Barcelona in a deal worth a reported 60m euros (£51m), external after playing for the Spanish club at youth level before joining Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb in 2014. Olmo has signed a six-year contract with Barcelona that has a release clause of 500m euros (£429m). He was joint top-scorer at Euro 2024 with three goals as he helped Spain win the tournament for a record fourth time.
