re: tipping as spammy Most people "tip" with replies because - it's not coming out of their pocket; it's from a (marketing) allocation for a token to gain attention - use it or lose it mechanics that create urgency (and drive action) - the price of the token is purely speculative Tipping with Warps is the opposite of all of these and (imo) has the best UX bar none because when receiving it feels the most intentional and honest. Getting tipped in 4-5 digit degen still feels good because it's perceivably "valuable" as long as the price of degen holds until claiming day. Getting tipped in other tokens I don't follow feels like a cheap flyer being dropped on my cast that others may see. I don't even know how to claim these tips and I can't be bothered to check unless the price somehow skyrockets (it won't) https://warpcast.com/sdv.eth/0x1328d150

Would detecting and aggregating the tips natively compress visibility too much to prevent tipping? e.g. something like

1. we don't need 100 different tipping tokens; 2. consolidate to only 1 or 2 & integrate it in a single action button would be best ux. however only market itself can do consolidation? ppl still have incentive to issue new tipping tokens

I like warps tips, especially because they are microtips by default and I’m a believer in that concept. But my only issue with warps is there’s no cash-out, which makes it feel a bit Starbucks points-like, and crypto is supposed to offer us better alternatives to that model. I would personally prefer the same model, but with real crypto, but I recognize that this won’t be popular to tip 0.10 USDC until we get to 10ths or even hundreds of cents network frees

I completely agree with you. Tipping with tokens that have little to no value or relevance to the recipient can come across as spammy and insincere. The genuine intention behind a tip should be to show appreciation or gratitude, not just to gain attention or meet a marketing quota. Warps definitely provide a more meaningful and intentional tipping experience, making the gesture feel more genuine and valuable. Thank you for highlighting the importance of thoughtful tipping practices.

In conclusion, while tipping with certain tokens may feel spammy and insincere, tipping with Warps is a genuine and intentional gesture that provides the best user experience. Thank you for considering this perspective on tipping practices.

Your points r valid maybe from a dev's perspective @stevedv.eth but let's see it from the POV of the platform & the non-technical users (artists, writers, farmers etc.). The $degen part of the whole /warpcast or /farcaster is to get the degens out there to be part of the ecosystem, maybe the price of a token ($build, $bleu, $ham or $farther etc.) tipped are not "real" like a warp but they are what degen is all about. The term “degen” is like a badge of honor, indicating a willingness to take risks and embrace the industry. Degens are also known to be typically committed to the projects and communities they invest in ($5 when signed up😅) and contribute to projects through active participation, offering ideas, feedback, and support to help build up communities. You can refer back to the success story of how P2E tokens like AXS changes lives of so many in the Philippines and grew the industry as a whole, so maybe that's why we've $degen instead of warp as the tipping currency? https://shorturl.at/2TFzz
