yt, tiktok, instagram know me better than my mum

the algo knows what i want to see 

there's also abundance of content there 

likely no reason why i'd ditch them and go elsewhere

what if fc mini apps became the new product hunt? 

what if fc wallet + feed becomes a trader's safe haven? 

idk i keep thinking a lot on how farcaster should uniquely 100x and spend $10mn over the next 12 months to go big or go home 

the team / founders are incredibly talented and there's opportunity cost

maybe it's a decade long slow grind to wait for a canonical event that floods new valuable users

but is hope a good strategy?

i ask this to myself very often each time i say 'i hope xyz happens'

Competing on video is not playing a different game 

Playing a different game in farcaster’s case would be maximising time/$ spent in mini apps for example

Not that that’s what I’m here for but if growth has to come from somewhere 🤷‍♂️

I know I said it makes sense for farcaster to have a video feed and I still do - that’s table stakes. But video support is not gonna make Farcaster win

i mostly agree. good mini apps make use of your social graph - something that newly onboarded users don't have

not entirely convinced people would come to farcaster for its video content considering the vibrance of existing video platforms like instagram/tiktok/youtube, so just thinking what 'playing another game' would look like

MiniApps aren't onboarding users obviously. Most of them are mid AF.

Yup - make it easy, as easy as anywhere else.

The mistake is thinking the platform is the one that competes for market share with video.

The users create videos, and those videos compete.  The users compete for you.  You have to enable them with tools to win.

The platform facilitates the publishing of video to enable the userbase to compete. 

That's a fundamentally different viewpoint than farcaster competing for video market share.

We don’t have to win on video but people need to be able to share and watch videos as easily as anywhere else 

Reminds me of when we couldn’t upload images, or didn’t have longer casts, or couldn’t quote cast. Weren’t gonna win on those features either, but without them people churn
