the EF would not be able to "save" ethereum even if they tried

ethereum is decentralized - it's up to you and me to build cool shit that normal people can and want to use

crying to the EF is effectively crying "can devs do something". we're past that. grow up.

The Ethereum Foundation making concrete changes and being more vocal about their plans based on community feedback makes me really optimistic!

Yes, it's a decentralized ecosystem and we should all be doing what we can but it's undeniable the EF has significant resources and reach so their work can certainly boost everyone else's efforts, especially app builders in the space trying to onboard new users and further use cases in Ethereum

What I'm doing personally to support:
- been building a company @bountycaster for the past year enabling more people to get paid out in crypto globally for their work (we self funded, I'm not taking a personal salary)
- worked on the @ethereumfilm documentary the past 3 years with its mainstream distribution this year (I declined any compensation)

I've been building since the start including part of the team getting Ethereum added to Coinbase but disagree that the community shouldn't be giving constructive feedback to the EF and there's nothing they can do

totally agree. if i'm not mistaken the ethereum foundation has actively tried to limit its influence over time as well

there's definitely an argument to be made that ethereum would be better off without the EF today, but i don't think it would have gotten to where it is today without the EF

i don't blame people who (even knowingly) don't differentiate between eth and ef. it's pretty common today to equate the product to the company. and even though it's an obvious (from my perspective) error, i can't say it's completely unforced.

so i'm wondering if eth would be better off without ef, or at least with a foundation that would have a more sensibly chosen name.

(if i saw a company named "bitcoin foundation" i'd immediately think it's a grift)

i think the whole ecosystem is a bit jaded so it makes sense that people are looking for leadership. it also makes sense that people look in the direction of the EF because it's the closest thing to an authority that we have

hmm I get your point, but here's a different take:

People are looking for vision. We want to know what we're working towards and that the future is brighter.

So perhaps people are looking for more vision from Ethereum. Not densely-pack technical journals that 1% of people can read, but simple English. I think Solana has been winning the vision & culture game the past little while.

yes, allthough it will be a matter of perception more than testing the underlying tech. 

decentralization has proved countless times to be avantageous for the wider ecosystem, but if individuals don't experience or understand this, they will default to centralization and individualism. 

"devs, do something" is an indicator people crave accountability from one central entity. It's the same as "help us, mr. president": not healthy for democracy.

are you saying its benefits will be tested in terms of whether it's worth the effort when comparing to less decentralized systems in the coming bull market?

decentralization still goes over the head of most and it's benefits will be massively tested in the next few months.
