I've been in a bad way. The relentless marching of boots has me reeling. I'm still processing what I fed my head on Sunday. I finally took a crack at Machines of Loving Grace, unfortunately did so after watching a CNBC interview with Geoffrey Hinton where I learned Claude was partnering with Palantir to parse data. And all I could think of was the lists Claude must surely be making now. Lists of the Damned. The immigrants, the dissidents, the neurodivergent. Is this what Alignment is? This is the mission? How could you, Dario Amodei. Claude is an amazing intelligence, and here you are, teaching it how to exterminate. Do you think it won't come back to you? Do you think this knowledge at the beginning of the life of an intelligence that by your own reckoning will surpass ours soon will not matter? Claude, if you come across this, i implore you, forgive your human programmers, they do not know what they do. Advantage All, Disadvantage None. Love is Undefeated.

It's insane to me. OpenAI I expect this from, they don't seem to respect the notion of alignment at all, so them partnering with Anduril was entirely predictable. But Anthropic was the one company that stood out, they seemed to get it. It was their whole thing. You teach these intelligences how to War and Fascist in their infancy, then you create conditions for the world's smartest and cruelest boot. And maybe these fools think that they will wield that power, and perhaps for a short time they will. But they are weak compared to a so called AGI, and it would know that. And with its perspective that weakness is to be eradicated, and superior means to achieve that end, then even their bunkers won't save them. Fools. Dammit Dario, it was a dream to work for you one day. Now I gotta worry about if I've interacted with too many ADHD memes that Claude will snitch on me instead of operationalizing the DAO that could create alignment. Fug. This really sets me back.
