If @dwr wants more clients, open sourcing Warpcast like how @uniswap open sources their web and mobile apps would be a great first step Just like Android, and many others Strong brand means majority will still use Warpcast But getting and maintaining feature parity will be easier for would-be competitors

Feel good move with a lot of work. To make Warpcast work you need our team. :)

It’s putting your money where your mouth is, and one of few bets you can control to push client decentralization fwd Agree it’s a lot of work, having worked at uniswap, it would be far easier to be closed source Yes, backend and infra isn’t included but it makes it easier to compete against a team worth $1B

The existential issue for Farcaster is growing retained daily active users. Open sourcing won’t do that. After users, which is by far the most important, developers want decentralized and interoperable direct casts.

Fair that it's a matter of sequencing and isn't top priority I may have misheard that this was top of mind, and it was my initial reaction seeing a promising consumer-focused warpcast alternative shut down

@slokh relative to 10x protocol DAU, decentralized channels or interoperable DCs, would open source Warpcast client bump any of those?

No, and arguably the app is actually the simplest part of building a client. Warpcast’s secret sauce is the backend. @pl we’re open sourcing the /nook mobile and web app once I’m back from vacation which is basically at parity with all non-centralized Warpcast features

That settles it. Curious, what about the backend were y'all missing? Enjoy your vacation! Thank you for doing what you're doing to make it easier for others to build on it. Excited to take a look at the repo once it's ready!
