Every morning, before anyone else wakes up, I fill this box. Sometimes it comes home empty, and sometimes there are leftovers. I keep track and adjust. For instance, I know she’ll eat 4 (but not 5) cherry tomatoes. As a parent, I think a large part of our karmic duty is to bear witness. To observe. When I made this realization it made every moment I have with them a little more special.

Do you ever go back on previous observations to see if things changed? Try 5 cherry tomatoes again a year later?

Indeed I switch it up and often get comments in the evening when I pick them up. « I don’t like chicken salad, I want PBJ again » So yeah, all the observations are temporary and they change their minds more than I change my pants
