Can we take a moment and appreciate how lucky we are as a society that we have OSI's definition of OSS?

It's the closest thing we have to neutral technology: no discrimination against users or builders or politics or nationality. No getting rugged by context or regime changes.

We're so lucky to have OSS at our core.

Millions of people create OSS, almost all of them are employed by commercial entities. In a world where exclusionary source licenses were dominant, almost all code would remain private.

There are many reasons why corporate capture happens, OSS is not a cause but rather one of the few counterbalances we have.
