here's some very scattered thoughts after hearing that degen is creating their own client that will be the only method to tip your own $degen in the future (after the vault and allowance features are deprecated). i'm just not sure how many more clients that farcaster needs right now. i like recaster, super, and can't wait for coinbasewallet to leave beta once additional features are added i think having a separate degen client with the primary purpose to tip your own degen will be a very small edge case. i'm probably not going to go to another client to search for a cast that i found in another client in order to tip someone, when i can do that with mini apps or @bankr i could very well be wrong and hope changing things up helps $degen in the long term.

this seems to be the common perspective, my counterpoints on it will be the following, with the disclaimer that I have no idea how this will all turn out and I too could be completely wrong: - you won't be going on there to tip, and the actual UX will be designed to produce net new content á la Reddit - farcaster app itself is still very niche and quite clunky in all honesty, it is filled with various apps and is very difficult to build a sustainable community on given all the various points of friction - I am not sure how the Degen app will interface with the current set of casts on here, but I think it will bring many people in who will not be on farcaster, and thus a lot of new content - having only $Degen as the transactional token (whether for tipping or otherwise) rather than 5 other ones opens up new incentive models fundamentally, it weaves a token into the core of the social experience, in this case Reddit style. hyper risky, but a lot of upside imo

it’ll be interesting if it has reddit-style ux, but if the degen app doesn’t have mini apps or do a good job integrating current fc content, it’s going to have a hard time competing with ones that do agree that the fc app can be improved, but it’s taken years to get this far, might take a bit for the degen app to be stable enough knowing things can change in a sprint, I’ll wait to say more until I see the beta. again, hope it helps degen expand and fc expand!
