Weirdest US thing is no taxes on the price sheets

You think it costs X and get hit by tax

More insane is reading it costs X on a restaurant menu and then X + mandatory service charge + tax + being asked for an additional tip

Just give me the price and I‘ll say I want it or nah😅

Yup it's the same here, a fixed 15%. And the bill has it itemized since we have some tax free essential items. Anyways, probably one of those things you just get used to 😀

that makes sense, though I look at the bill anyway and know it's 19% (germany has it standardized) 

If you want to show it to me, you could also go X+tax (X*taxrate) on the price tag or menu 😅

I heard a theory this is a matter of principle for some because it forces you to be aware of taxes your representatives are making you pay. An interesting argument.

but people in eu seem to like being abused financially by the government and also with bureaucracy required to do pretty much anything

in europe it’s too high, if they were to hide it like that people would get mindful and get mad because of how high it is

I hated that when I was in Texas. You think something costs 10$ until you get shared 18$ and are expected to tip on top of that!
