π± Down syndrome is the leading cause of congenital intellectual disability in people. The culprit is an extra chromosome 21. Scientists have learned to precisely "trim" it using molecular scissors; the cell discards the excess, and the genes return to normal. So far, this works under laboratory conditions, but a step towards a cure has been taken. Victory over Down syndrome is a matter of the near future. I asked AI to restore the face of a person with Down syndrome as if he were healthy. Compare. Impressive?

Interesting research, though I wonder β should the goal always be to βfixβ or βnormalizeβ people? Or to better support the diverse ways we exist?
