systematic sleep deprivation is really quite harmful in some ways its a bit of a hidden tax where you may not feel tired on the surface during the day but it manifests in less mental clarity, poor judgment etc that you don't realize until after the fact if at all

I remember when I had insomnia (genuine diagnosis), I think I only slept 2-3 hours a night for maybe a year. Worse time of my life and I was most depressed
