It really does feel like we’re witnessing a real consolidation of authoritarian power. Using the federal government to neuter the political power of universities, non-profits, and law firms is hugely significant in shutting down civil society. Unions aren’t going to want any smoke. It’s quite bleak.

Yea it’s pretty wild, curious how far they are going to take it.

What's really bleak is that a lot of people know better they're just too afraid to speak out. I've heard multiple times that Republicans in Congress don't speak out due to fear of their lives or political careers. I read just yesterday in the WSJ that CEOs aren't speaking out due to fear of backlash. Law firms and news corporations are folding to Trump because they know he'll corruptly get revenge if they don't, or their competitors will take advantage. It's all quite distressing how there actually exists a silent majority that is caving to Trump's bullying.

We don’t agree on everything but hopefully enough can agree and act on this.

The soft power empire controlled domestically by propaganda was at risk of disillusionment because we are all watching it commit a genocide on our phones. So they have to crack down with harder forces. Natural extension of the same thing Dems did when in power.
