Err I interpret the opposite 

the fact that people STILL buy labubus indicate the luxury industry is still thriving 

I think it’s more barbelled and u and I are on the other side but the luxury enjoyooors are spending more than ever it seems

I've always been an outsider to the luxury industry so clearly I have a different perspective. From Stanley cups to Labubu, fakeness and trying to cash in on trends, democratization and globalization of goods and intelligence. The ideals of beauty are collapsing further and yet more seem to be discussing the relevance of status games. Crypto and NFTs aside which have such an ingrained stigma by now they shouldn't even enter the conversation.

everything seems to be in a stage of redefinition. not a bad thing and of course some will be defensive of such institutions as they are remolded.

this is the direction I see as well. Hopefully less thow away stuff and more durable, repairable stuff

Maybe luxury will move more more towards identifying the highest quality stuff (a subjective blend of aesthetic and physical quality, materials, durability, and style) and pricing it fairly rather than following specific names. ...maybe

I don’t think luxury should die!! It’s an identity and I think despite how well it’s performing in the market it’s a thing that is always in conversation with itself. I also think luxury is a broader concept than the -core of everything. It can exist without a locked in style or format

Not die, but be redefined.  I think we see this a bit with concepts like “Self care” (a term I hate).  What’s self care for me isn’t self care for someone else in the exact way what’s luxury to others looks miserable to me.
