Some people believe Big Pharma suppresses cancer cures for profit.

Truth is that if there was a cure for cancer, insurers (the ones footing the bill) would push it so hard and fast to reduce the billions they pay annually for cancer care.

1. Cancer is a really complex disease to treat, what works for A has a 90% chance on not working for B, dealing with genetics is always difficult, because the slightest change will cause a whole new problem entirely.

2. Developing new cancer treatments needs major investments, research, testing, clinical trials and management, it’s a lot, and not everyone is ready to throw in huge money into something that won’t yield in the near future, especially with the advent of vaccines and infectious diseases drugs

5. I am not fully sure of this last one, but recently the whole division in the healthcare workforce I see these days, where doctors feel superior and lab technicians inferior. This hinders collaboration and data sharing.

We can’t go forward until we are ready to approach patients in a round table manner.

4. Funds (Money): to be frank you see a chance to invest in 5 vaccine and 10 anti cancer drug, you are going for 5 vaccines, because definitely 1 vaccine will yield a benefit and return, yet 15 anti cancer drugs will take you back, this investors are also business men/women looking for returns one way or another

3. The regulatory bodies, approval of new treatments is a lot of work, the moment things go sideways, they have to pull everything back and keep these drugs in check, they might have a hand to play in development and approval problems too, but watching the market is the major deal breaker for them.
