it’s sad but often my first reaction to people with kids is “damn, I wonder what they do for a living to afford that”

for a while i’ve been trying to locate the point at which a responsible adult would say “ok i’m financially stable enough to commit to feeding another human for 18 years now”

sometimes i suspect i’m looking at it all wrong, other times i let it debilitate me

Lots of people have more kids than me and make less money.  You can figure it out.  The analyses we did were always grim but the joy we have from family was not a line item.

it’s truly such a difficult question to answer. eventually it probably requires letting go of the analysis and a leap of faith.
