@pfista do you have any workaround for the 40 tool limit in Cursor? I know there's a lot of talk about it in their forums, but as of yet, no solutions.

It’s there for a reason, the LLM will do much worse with too many tools. I think people are overdoing it with MCP, you should reduce to 10 maybe 15 core tools you’ll get better results.

Fair point. It'd be great if clients would let you choose on the fly though. Or at least per project.

This is why clients need to support users selecting specific tools. In some cases, it's useful for an LLM to choose what tool is best for the job from a set of tools. Other times, the user knows the right tool for the job and can just prompt it. Also, things like cursor rules could be used to give outlines for which tools work best for which task.
