SpaceX is another example at innovation on the backs of public funds/government publically paid contracts, while SpaceX privatizes profit and services, lol we shouldn't be paying for the private gains with no material returns to the working class

no. do some research. read Liftoff by Eric Berger and stop regurgitating leftist horseshit πŸ’© also look at how much MORE (WAY WAY MORE) money went into ULA and other wasteful contractors

(Elon nearly went bankrupt in the process; he put his balls and over $100M of his own money on the table because NASA would NOT BACK HIM)

Since 2008 hes gotten over 15 billion dollars in subsidies from government( the majority coming from nasa) and he even himself admits that nasa contracts saved the company. I'd have the same complaint against any private company that does this, lol but not sure how its leftist horseshit https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.ndtv.com/offbeat/elon-musk-says-nasas-1-5-billion-contract-had-saved-spacex-from-going-broke-2502210

SpaceX delivers payload to orbit at BY FAR the lowest cost per point ever. who do you suggest the government hire instead? Boeing? Lockheed? ULA? be serious

(between the shuttle and Falcon 9, the USA was wholly dependent on...China and Russian to send men to space. yeah let's go back to that...)

And how does going to space make the working classes life better? Why the fuck should I care about space when I can't afford healthcare, when Americans are dying at huge numbers of preventable diseases, lmfao theres so much better things that 18 billion dollars could of gone too, instead of helping a privately owned company make spaceships go up

1 out of 7 Americans are food insecure 56% of Americans can't afford a 1000 dollar emergency An estimated 45k die every year due to lack of insurance Lol all these seem to be better issues to sink 18 billion dollars into over a private company thats just going to enrich itself (any company)

Im saying I dont care about innovation when that innovation is trivial, especially when it comes at the sake of social programs, especially when the gains and advances are privatized and sold back to the working class at profit

from Claude: Here are major quality of life improvements that originated from space exploration and research: **Medical and Health Technologies** - **Memory foam** - Originally developed for aircraft seats, now widely used in mattresses, pillows, and medical cushioning - **Water purification systems** - NASA’s silver ion purification technology is used in pools, hospitals, and developing countries - **Artificial limbs** - Advanced prosthetics using space-grade materials and shock-absorption technology - **Heart pumps and pacemakers** - Miniaturization techniques developed for spacecraft electronics - **Medical imaging** - Digital image processing originally created for enhancing moon photos
