Question isn't if good question is impact, and MF doom had exponentially more impact on hip hop than mac Miller

Theres a reason why Q tip of a tribe called quest called him your favorite rappers favorite rapper. Joey Bada$$ The weeknd Tyler the creator Earl sweatshirt Danny brown Among others credit him a massive influence "He was a massive inspiration to so many of us, changed things... For me the way he put words was often shocking in its genius, using stream of consciousness in a way I'd never heard before. Thom Yorke of radiohead on MF DOOM Also beyond that theres all the stuff he did with Adult swim both music and providing voices, and was first hip hop artist to really embrace that lane

I mean imma be real, I like this album, but it itself is derivative of its time in terms of sound, Mac didn't start the whole Jazzy hip hop thing, not to take anything away from his talent, but like its really hard to say this album its self is influential

Im saying the sound its self not the features or anything on it. Not to take away from what is a good album, but like its not what started that sound and that style, and that's ok, it doesn't take away from what the album is

what sound did doom start? imo all of his best stuff is so good that no one can really replicate it. there will NEVER be anything close to an album like vaudeville villain

Dooms music set the stage for a lot of the early vibes on adult swim And also hes one of the innovators of modern jazz rap Look at secret herbs and spices his instrumental series or the stuff he produced as mf fingers https://youtu.be/oLZd6KQt4Do?si=pD9dKm9UucmJFc3a https://youtu.be/qacYSklNjMA?si=HjcUDRATslTK2XzO

i am very familiar. i am not necessarily arguing that mac miller is better, in fact I do think doom overall is a "better" artist but it doesn't necessarily mean he's more influential. i'm not sure there's a proper way to gauge that unless someone does an extensive work of scholarship on the sociology of rap
