instead of merkle doing big brain work alone to figure out who’s spammy and who’s not, maybe the number of people that mute a user should also aid in the decision of whether an account is marked spammy or not.

it does, but sometimes you mute people because you don't like seeing their view on something, not because they are spammy so it's not a perfect signal.

true yeah, reason for muting can vary. maybe the threshold for it to be considered spammy could be higher than a handful of mutes. definitely not perfect but a community curated signal of what’s spam is valuable and there’s less chances of good users won’t get mislabeled. (i know you’ve all worked on a lot on the spam detection stuff and rolled new updates recently too which i really appreciate, but im just thinking out loud) maybe we should stick to reporting users 😅
