Not being able to buy US-based ETFs due to the EU's restrictive PRIIPs KID regulations is incredibly frustrating. Seriously, why do over-regulate everything in the EU?

Not only that, but even currency exchange is restricted inside stock exchange brokers - one can only change from other currencies into their base currency but not the other way around.

Fill out a W8-BEN and buy US stocks direct. Did this 24 years ago and never held a European investment ever again, except ASML.

At one point this became common goal for everyone and rare legit regulation cases, like usb-c, praised and now regs marketed as strong side of the EU, some states push MiCA to factual ban of crypto, your example forces to use EUs ETFs which is still state dependent. How about some liberté?
