Okay some former FTX asshats are starting a new self custody exchange product in Dubai. Theyโ€™re calling it Backpack. I have the trademark for Backpack Wallet Weโ€™re still small, objectively there is very little friction to change names vs later on. Iโ€™m torn between ๐Ÿ˜ก and ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผ Thoughts, advice?

One way of looking at that is from the perspective of what helps you serve the customer well, and to continue serving as you scale. Does changing the name impede either? Does fighting them on a trademark help? If it does, do the resources you spend on it detract from product? It sucks and Iโ€™m sorry to hear that!

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ In terms of emotional turmoil this is 3/10 so Iโ€™ll be fine either way. I wonโ€™t chase it very far, you captured the P&L pretty accurately. Iโ€™m down to go through the first steps that @cassie has suggested beyond that my primary concern is shipping not fighting especially over a patch of name-dirt

๐Ÿ’ก(riffing): If you donโ€™t need to make a final naming decision now, sending them the notice that @cassie referenced might be a good learning experience (legal jockey Wise) if you havenโ€™t done one of those before. Sending notice isnโ€™t a commitment to fight it, all the way, or anywhere. ๏ฟผ

My immediate thoughts for any sort of distraction like this, that is legal related, is โ€œ๐Ÿ’กwhat can I programmatically do with an attestation on EAS using these legal artefacts, that might look like some kind of downstream product idea?โ€
