Still wondering why casts, and reactions, are lowering.
- Is this because of fewer accounts harvesting token drops like degen?
- is this the effect of showing the spam label?
- a combination of these things or something else?

What does the mindshare think?

@mvr brings up some excellent points in the OG cast. I’m interested to hear what others think. 

Farcaster feels even smaller to me but I can’t tell if it’s because of my drastic time zone shift.

That’s a good theory and lines up with @mvr theories too.

The majority of the engagement activity was driven by moxie/degen.  Without those you just have “real” engagement left.

As an example, people used to max out their 20-60 quotes for moxie daily.  I quote maybe 2-3 times a day, so imagine bots coming in and literally 10x quote casts.

Wish the team opens up more engagement data. A/B test based on analytics is important. Or we can never draw conclusions.
Intuitively, I still think it's the algo punishing small accounts for "spam" behaviour, as a lot of us have repeatedly voicing our concerns.
Imo this is going to get worse when Coinbase wallet launches their Farcaster integration. Not sure what's the motivation to stay here if not for monetary incentives

Kinda noticed it yesterday.
I think ppl is prioritizing their engagement so much, completely biased by the rewards leaderboard.

Idk about anything but my super brain tells me that this kinda looks bad😂

Then, should we say we’ve had some bots sent off? Maybe the farming was more of bots or maybe people have noticed something some of us have noticed. I actually noticed my leaderboard points freezing for days, I don’t talk about it cos it’s not my main aim, but I’ve seen people talk about it, one guy was really fuming last week calling out the team about it. Probably a drop in energy because of this, but even at that, I don’t really feel that should be the reason for that heavy drop in stats

Do you really think that’s what driving people not casting as much? Because in theory your likes could be overwritten of course, but I don’t think anyone cares if I like from three or four months ago disappears. 

I definitely don’t have any of my original cast because I stopped paying for cash storage when I realized if I didn’t reply to people, they could get a spam label so I was sometimes replying to hundreds of people a day, especially in my channels and most especially if I ask them to engage with me. 

I wonder if the average caster is seriously not replying as much because they worry about buying storage.

My thoughts won’t go pass the fact that one has to buy space and we can be out of use for the reactions, comments other things. As I’m aware, some cast will vanish once we are out of space

That's more alpha signal for those who left (and more genuine interactions maybe?)

The leaderboard is like playing with a windmill! when a lot, but not quality. players grouped together and write the same type of posts and comments. single users begin to realize the meaninglessness of the situation. ps. do not pretend to get into the top 1000, thoughts aloud.

I have to go look up Ham. 

Degen drastic changes happened 1/5 which lines up with the first drop almost perfectly. 

Moxie emissions ended 3/1, but the next biggest drop was 3/30. 

So I’m unsure what caused that. This is all protocol data from Dune so spam labels don’t matter here.

I think the ham news came up in the beginning of February. Weird what happened end of march 👀

I think this drastic drops we see in Jan and March must be technical things. That doesnt look like just human behavior. There must be a change causing this two drastical steps. Maybe the mentioned things or the hide bot comments or hide followers change maybe? I think overall cause of DEGEN and HAM. When was HAM end?

I don't think it's because of your time zone instead I'd say it's because of lesser airdrop opportunities and lesser legit projects
