1/ Letās Talk About Expectations in the DEGEN Community As we continue building DEGEN together, I think itās important to address something fundamental: what we should expect from one another. Right now, DEGEN is one of the only platforms where someone can earn hundreds of dollars with almost no authentic engagementājust by reposting low-effort or spammy content. Platforms like Google Ads or Twitter would never allow that kind of behavior to be monetized, and it raises an important question for us as a community: why should we?

I donāt envy you all at all. Iāve been fighting spam and slop since my first days as a mod on Farcaster and in my own channels. Every time I provide incentives, someone inauthentic shows up. I can manage it because my community is small. I canāt imagine how much work it is at scale. I just ask for clear rules. Tell us what not to do and the community will enforce it. We are really good at guidelines. When there are no true guidelines, we get 91% of active users with Spam labels. We have too many non native English speakers here. We canāt just say ābe authenticā. We need concert examples of what is not kosher so they can learn. If they donāt learn, thatās no longer on you.
