Re: dedegen and my position on the mod squad Dear @jacek, In season 6, you rolled out a new system you hadn't quite properly thought through. Last minute, you caved to the biggest whales. You told users to lock up their precious degen and receive an allowance to do what they want with. So they did. They opened up channels for "tip-for-tip" and "401k matching" (which you condoned). You misaligned incentives with the site's most active users, and now degen is being exploited by the people you bent the knee to. NOW, you have appointed a select group of people to clean up this mess with subjective standards and burdened us with the responsibility of deciding "what's right." If you want to unlock people's money and change the rules, fine. But I won't be a part of this. Sincerely, Burr

We’re proud of the new season and glad it’s been well received. Moderation is essential for any social network, and we aim to be transparent. Degen tip allowances are in a healthier position than ever. Sorry you feel this way, and you will be missed. Take care.

How are they in a healthier position? When the OpenRank score dictated the allowance, they were all going to real users who (mostly) have the tips out the right way. Now we’re watching probably half of the daily total allowance go to farms of people with their alt accounts. That doesn’t seem healthier at all. The only problem with the previous system was that it was hard for new/small accounts to break out. A hybrid system that kept a social score, and gave new/small accounts an opportunity to have more than 3-5 allowances would be significantly better than this current one. Watching our Allo drop every day brings zero positive emotions, only negative ones. I don’t want to keep depositing and resetting a 3 month clock to maintain an allowance. TLDR - I don’t think this system is remotely close to “healthier” tbh.

In previous seasons, we were chained to daily taps to maintain our allowance. The cost barrier to create farms of low-engagement users was 0 $degen, making it easy for farmers/bots. If some commit to buying and locking at least 10k $degen until October, it ensures some commitment from them. Perhaps we could introduce an allowance multiplier that isn't solely based on the amount locked but also doesn't require frequent daily posts for everyone. Gradually transitioning the social score based on engagement and posting averages but moving from daily to weekly, then to monthly could benefit everyone. This approach would help newcomers climb the ranks and maintain a steady influx of new participants, fostering their growth. Simultaneously, it would recognize the contributions of OGs without demanding constant activity, reducing the pressure to resort to low-quality posts. Personally I find this season 6 less frenetic. I've locked in 100k and feel my allowance matching the time and engagement I can offer.

Months ago the cost barrier was 0, and there was farms back then, but last season it was almost all going to REAL users. The main problem was that it was mostly the top 1000, who were almost all PB users so everyone without a badge and lower ranked got shafted. That's why I keep saying a hybrid system that uses OpenRank score coupled with the staking mechanism or something else that allows an easier onboarding for new/small accounts to get going with an allowance. All I know is watching my allowance drop 80% from last season, and then watching it drop another 50% again since the start of the season in daily increments isn't the way to keep me happy either. Nor is topping up to bring my allowance up and resetting the 3 month clock. Sure, they have committed some DEGEN, and they did it simply to earn and give the rewards back to themselves on other accounts, it's cheating regardless.

I don't understand how it decreased so much after season 6 started. Mine has stayed about the same since the beginning, with only minor fluctuations. Another thing that comes to mind is why I should worry if my allowance decreases when more people join. If more people are locking degen, it reduces the supply, potentially increasing the value of 1 degen, which means your tips would be worth more. Maybe I'm missing something here.

Right now my allowance is 1100. Last season it was 6000. The day before this season started my 120k lockup was showing roughly 3800 allowance. Day 1 it was 2300, so it being 1100 now is actually >50% reduction in those weeks since this season started. Watching your allowance drop every day is shit. I used to enjoy the “grind” in growing my rank and checking my allowance the next day to see if it went up, now it’s all but guaranteed to go down every day. Sure, eventually it’ll semi-stagnate, but it hasn’t yet, just keeps dropping and I refuse to lock up more and reset the 3 month clock. Again, it’s not just more people joining, it’s more fake accounts set up to stake and give the allos to their alts, that’s it. Have you seen the influx of bot accounts with “hey, I’m ____ ____, I like bla bla” There are thousands of them, all setup to cheat this system.
