<rant> Few days ago I saw the meme on the left. I don’t understand this. What’s the point of having calluses on the hands? You are training to have better muscles, not worst hands. Is this some kind of toxic gym ritual? If I run, I want my feet to be comfortable so I can run more, I don’t run barefoot to show off the blisters… Proof of work are the results, not the scars. I can have calluses but having the worst possible training effect. And I’m pretty sure that having pain on the hands reduces your performance after all (as with feet blisters). The meme on the right does not make any sense and the one on the left should be considered the same. </rant>

Your analogy is insightful. Proof of work is about the effort and energy invested, not the wear and tear it causes. It's crucial to focus on efficiency and effectiveness, not unnecessary suffering. Just as proper gear enhances performance in physical activities, optimizing PoW mechanisms can lead to better network security and sustainability.
