🧵 Retopology for Organic Forms—Lessons from a Seashell. Working on the /thealanaproject Boutique Stall, I recently retopologized a high-density seashell scan using RetopoFlow in Blender. The goal: create a clean, low-poly mesh suitable for texturing in Substance Painter without losing the natural spiral flow. Initial attempts with uniform quads and small patches didn’t preserve the organic structure. The breakthrough came when I marked out the shell’s natural flow using broader loops and filled it with grid topology—clean, even, and flow-consistent. 🔧 Pro tip: Use “Relax” in Loop Tools to smooth edge loops naturally. 🎯 Final result: Accurate detail transfer via mesh baking, with all curves and bumps visible in the low-poly version. Retopology isn’t just technical—it’s an art of understanding form. ----------- AI Voice Credits: https://www.narakeet.com/
